Even moving into the holiday season things are going on at The SnK.
We’re moving forward with the Monarch Habitat enhancement grant, having finalized our seed order. We’re going to pick it up next week, which means writing a pretty good check. Yeah, I’m excited. Uh, not about the check. 😉
Since we’re going to do prescribed burns in January or February, for the two grant projects, we’re prepping fire breaks, which means shredding, clearing, and disking. Yep, it’s work, but it will be worth it.
We also have maintenance to do. A number of our nest boxes have been “roughed up.” The Nags liked to use them to scratch on and a few have been knocked around. Gotta straighten them up.
Selena has just started Feeder Watch and is documenting the comings and goings of the back yard feeders. Great Back Yard Bird Count comes up in December.
One of the most interesting projects is our pursuit of Not for Profit status, which we’ll be visiting with our CPA on Thursday to discuss the process. We’ve got to come up with a Purpose Statement and I think our Mission Statement might work as the basis. We’ll see.
Oh, there’s tractor work to be done. The hydraulics are acting up on our Farmtrac, so I’m gonna have to pull stuff apart to take a look at the pickup strainer. I hope I don’t have to replace the pump.
It’s November 15 and will be in the mid-80’s today. Gotta love South Central Texas weather! After days of clouds and off and on rain, we’ve got some sunshine and we’re loving it. I think we’re going to have to take a 4-wheeler ride a bit later.
Well, I guess it’s time to get moving, take our walk, and then take care of business.
Until next time, Peace!
Keith, the K at The SnK
