Progress on the Prairie Restoration Project

Howdy Every Body!!!

Well, Selena and I spent some time on the phone with the TPWD Biologist, discussing our upcoming plans for Prairie restoration.  Tentatively, we are going to focus on the “Front 40,” in killing off (Hopefully) the KR Blue Stem and Coastal Burmuda.  After doing so, we’ll be seeding native grasses and forbs.  That will be the first phase.

The second phase will be Prescribed Burns in the “Back 360,” done in two phases; the “Middle 160,” and the “Back 200.”  We were intimidated, thinking that we were going to do all 408 acres at once.

We both breathed a sigh of relief, when we learned that we didn’t have to do it all at once.  After the holidays are over we’ll be focusing on brush removal out front.  Looks like there’s going to be a bunch of clipping spraying.

Right now, we’re preparing for Christmas, as are most folks; so brush removal will wait a little while.  Yeah!!

Well, hope every body has a wonderful Christmas, Hannuka, etc.

Until next time, Peace!
